M. J. "Mac" McCoy
Mac McCoy Retires After 35 Years
M & S Funeral Home, doing business as McCoy Funeral Home, will be under new ownership as of February 1, 2014. The business will continue to be M & S Funeral Home; however, it will be doing business as Scott Funeral Home.
Les Scott, the new owner, of the funeral homes in Muenster and Saint Jo, is an excellent mortician in every aspect of the business. He has proven himself to be honest, caring and very professional in the funeral business. He is a family man with a lovely wife of 18 years, Susan, and son Jordan and daughters, Nicole and Brittany. Les, Susan and Jordan have lived in Saint Jo for the past seven years. Jordan is a senior at Saint Jo Public School. I have no questions in my mind about the service Les will offer. He will always be available to talk with you and to help you in any way possible. I will always be in full support of him and his efforts to serve you.
After graduating from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1995, Les served his apprenticeship at Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville. He continued working there for four years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He then accepted a job as manager with the Huff Funeral Home in Whitesboro. He served in that capacity for five years, at which time that funeral home was sold to a large corporation. Les then worked in Wichita Falls for one and one half years. He was then employed by McCoy Funeral Home and was part owner in Saint Jo and Muenster where he has done an excellent job for more than seven years.
One of the most difficult things in my life is quitting the funeral business. I have met so many good people in Saint Jo and Muenster and I truly thank all of you for your support, trust in me and just your friendship. I have met so many people in both cities and have a great number of friends in each. But, it is a good feeling to know that I will remain living in this area and that I will still be around with my many friends and acquaintances in Saint Jo and Muenster. The 35 years in business in Saint Jo and the 33 years in Muenster have been great. I just want to express my thanks to all of you! Please continue to be my friend and call or visit me at any time. God has blessed me in so many ways and all you have been great!
I leave the funeral business just because its time. We all have to quit at some time in life.
Although I will remain here after retirement, I will continue to have the cattle and, hopefully will be physically able to continue hunting and fishing and to do more traveling.
I will miss serving you in the funeral business, but, hopefully, will continue to mingle with you for a long, long time. I wish all of you the best of luck in life and especially “God’s richest Blessings.”
